I was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 25, 1962. It was a Wednesday, which means I should have been full of woe. After all,

Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child has to work for its living,
But a child that’s born on the Sabbath day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

Look at that face!
Do I look like I was full of woe? I don’t think so!

I wrote my first book when I was in kindergarten. It was called The Sad Shape. It did not get published.

I continued to write stories throughout my school years. Would you like to see some of my early works?

My interests in high school included performing in a modern dance troupe, writing for and editing the school newspaper, calligraphy, and reading.

My favorite books as a child were The Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.

As you can see, I always enjoyed stories that were set in another time and place. It's not surprising that my first published book is a historical novel called Where the Ground Meets the Sky.
