Rising
River is held at Jackie's home in Needham, Massachusetts. Needham is a small, suburban town 12 miles southwest of Boston. Jackie's house is a large, comfortable, open floor-plan colonial with plenty of space to spread out and work. There is a deck that overlooks a small backyard and a fireplace for warm fires on cold nights. The town of Needham (with many conveniences) is less than a mile away.

All participants are welcome to work, relax, and share all meals at the house from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. There are two options for sleeping arrangements: You may lodge overnight at the house, or you may lodge at one of the many nearby hotels.
Lodging at the house. There are four single bedrooms at the house. Please note: These are the bedrooms of Jackie's children. Each room has a comfortable twin bed, clean sheets, and a writing desk—but the decor is strictly a child's. Want to get inside the head of a teenage boy? Sleep in son Sam's room. Writing a middle-grade novel? You might request the bedroom of Jackie's 12-year-old daughter. There is a half bathroom on the first floor and a full bathroom (shared by all participants) on the second floor. The all-inclusive fee for attending Rising River and lodging at the house is $675.
Lodging at a nearby hotel. There are many options for lodging in and near Needham. Here are a few area hotels you might like to consider. Please note that the per-room rates listed are for comparison purposes only. You need to call the hotel to find out the actual rate for any particular dates, and you are responsible for booking your own reservation. If you live locally, you may choose to attend Rising River and lodge at your own house. The fee for attending Rising River (exclusive of lodging, but inclusive of all meals) is $450.
Meals. Whether you lodge at the house or at a nearby hotel, all meals are included in the fee for Rising River. Eight meals are provided, beginning with Thursday dinner and ending with Sunday breakfast. Snacks, tea, and coffee are offered throughout the day, as well.
And then there's the dog. Rising River is home to Harley, a six-year-old yellow lab who is friendly to a fault. If you ignore her, she will eventually take the hint and leave you alone. If, on the other hand, you could use a little dog love, she will never say no.
